Where to find them

Reykjavík: Fiskislóð 73, 101 Reykjavik, in the Grandi Harbour District near the Old Harbour. Vík: Víkurbraut 5, 870 Vík, on the south coast near the Black Sand Beach (Reynisfjara), directly off Route 1. Lava Show Vík shares its building with The Soup Company; the entrance, front desk and gift shop are at the far end of the building.

What to bring

Light and comfortable clothing is recommended, as guests may feel significant heat, especially in warmer seating areas. Protective glasses are provided by Lava Show.

Parking and arrival

Free parking and easy access are available at both locations. Reykjavík: free parking is available on-site. Vík: free parking is plentiful.

Age limits

Babies and infants are welcome. For safety and comfort, babies must be seated in the third row, close to an exit, parents are responsible for ensuring children remain calm and seated, and guests may be asked to step outside briefly if needed to avoid disrupting the show.

How long it takes

Classic Experience: approximately 50 to 55 minutes. Premium Experience (Reykjavík only): approximately 75 minutes.

Are babies and infants allowed at Lava Show?

What's the difference between Classic and Premium?

Classic (approximately 50-55 minutes): full lava show, ground-level seating, close proximity to lava. Premium (approximately 75 minutes, Reykjavík only): VIP lounge access, balcony seating in the hot zone, exclusive video and backstage tour, welcome drink and lava souvenir.

What restaurant is in the same building as Lava Show Vík?

Lava Show shares a building with a soup restaurant (The Soup Company). The entrance, front desk, and gift shop are located at the far end of the building.

Will I feel the heat from the lava?

Yes. You will feel the heat from real molten lava during the show, which is one of the defining aspects of the experience.

How to get to Lava Show Vík?

By car, approximately 11 minutes from Reynisfjara, approximately 58 minutes from Hvolsvöllur, approximately 1 hour 40 minutes from Selfoss. Public transport: Bus line 51 services Vík.

Is it safe?

Yes. The experience follows strict safety standards, and protective glasses are provided.

Is there free parking available in Lava Show Vík?

Yes. Free parking is available.

Want to buy a gift card for our Classic experience for children?

The booking system does not currently support the purchase of Classic gift cards for children. The operator asks guests to email them so they can take care of it directly.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your showtime. Seating is first-come, first-served, except for Premium balcony seating, so arriving early gives you the best choice of seats.

Can I bring food or drinks into the showroom?

No. Food is not allowed inside the showroom.

Are the Reykjavík and Vík shows the same?

They are similar but differ in storytelling focus. Reykjavík covers Iceland's volcanic systems and recent eruptions, Vík covers the Katla volcano and South Coast geology.

Can I book a tour package for attractions in the Grandi District?

Yes. The Grandi Experience includes access to Lava Show, FlyOver Iceland, and Whales of Iceland.

What is Lava Show?

Lava Show is the only live experience in the world where you can safely witness real molten lava flowing just meters away. The lava is heated to 1,100°C (2,000°F), recreating a volcanic eruption in a controlled indoor environment.

Is there food on site?

Reykjavík: no food on-site, but several restaurants are within walking distance, including La Primavera, Hradlestin (Indian food), Grandi Food Hall. Vík: located in the same building as The Soup Company.

How to get to Lava Show Reykjavík?

The free Grandi Shuttle stops at Lava Show, running approximately 11:50-15:25. Public buses 3 and 14 stop nearby. Taxis are available via +354 588 5522 or apps such as Hreyfill and Hopp. Walking time from the city center is approximately 22 minutes. Free parking is available on-site.

Is the air safe to breathe?

Yes. The lava used does not emit harmful volcanic gases.

Is the lava real?

Yes. The lava is 100% real, reheated and poured live in front of the audience.
